INDORE: A speeding car driven by an inebriated youth allegedly ran over a family of a labourer sleeping on the roadside in Neemuch district early Monday morning, killing the middle-aged couple and critically injuring their three children. Car was driven by 20-year-old Vipul Ajmera, who also sustained multiple fractures after the car plunged from a bridge after the accident.
While the three injured kids have been hospitalised in Neemuch where they are stated critical, the car driver has been hospitalised in Udaipur in adjoining Rajasthan.
According to Neemuch city superintendent of police Pankaj Dixit, accident took place at around 12.30 am near Neemuch railway station.
All five, including couple Babu Lal, 45 and Shanti Bai, 38, besides their three children Toofan, 8, Renu, 6, and Pooja, 8, were rushed to Neemuch district hospital, where the doctors declared the couple brought dead.
Car driven by Vipul, resident of Vikas Nagar locality in Neemuch, later plunged down from the bridge in a nullah.
“Vipul has been booked for rash driving and culpable homicide not amounting to murder under Sections 279, 337 and 304 of IPC. We’re waiting for Vipul’s condition to improve for recording his statement,” said the CSP.
